BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. — The Berrien County Prosecutor said some sex offenders have been incorrectly removed from the statewide Sex Offender Registry after more than 20,000 people were removed after the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that changes to the state’s registry were unconstitutional.
The county prosecutor said in a release on Monday, “Although the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office does not maintain or administer the Sex Offender Registry, we have identified instances in which individuals appear to have been removed from the registry in error.”

Not uncommon for the registry to be filled with errors, so why not get rid of dumpster fire it is and use resources that will truly make a difference. Prosecutors, judges, and even the public don’t give a damn about victims’ views on their cases, so what’s the point of having your list other than punishment and harassment.

They love doubling down to defend their trainwreck registry. The very notion that some were “Incorrectly removed” implies that the apocalypse is going to befall us and the sky will turn red if those names are not reinstated ASAP.
These people are defending something that will never work. What sad joke.
Yet, they won’t detail specifically what cares and concerns the powers have but leave it in general terms of incorrectly removed…
I do find it interesting that 20K people were impacted by the ruling and are being freed from it. At 43K overall, that is 46.5% being removed which is a lot of fees, but also a lot of wronged people over the years who have been forced to still be around on it. Given MI has one of the best legal system schools in Ann Arbor, according to reviews, is the MI legal system that bad overall with these piss poor laws on the books?
I’m still waiting for the “OMG! 20k unregistered s** off******!” and “OMG! All s** off****** are going to move here now!” and “Michigan women and children put in grave danger” stories. I figured they’d have been out by now. This story is the closest I’ve seen, and it’s not all that alarming, at least as most media would like to make it.
I hope the attorney that FAC hired in their big case keeps at least a passing glance at Michigan as that case goes through the appeal process in a few years (which it will). It ought to help show that the registry is absolutely worthless toward its stated purpose.
Well shit. If I stayed in Michigan instead of going to work in NY I would have been off the registry 🥹 but since I worked in NY for a couple years I’m stuck for life since I moved out of the country 🤣
